Join RUMC for the Holy Saturday/Easter Eve Vigil Fire

At 6:30 p.m. Easter Eve, Saturday, April 3, a few yards southeast of the Hwy. 67/Highland Valley Road/Dye Road intersection, we gather for a soup potluck and brief worship. If you can, bring a favorite soup to share – homemade or a can of Campbell’s are fine. We light the Vigil Fire at 7:30 p.m. and take turns tending it to keep the fire burning throughout the night. We’ll contemplate the celebration of the resurrection.

His followers watched Jesus as He prayed on the Mount of Olives, as He was betrayed, as He was judged by those unworthy to judge Him, and as He died on the cross. Unlike those followers, we know what Easter morning brings. We know that the stone has been rolled away. So we can wait in great anticipation, in peace and in joy. We know that Easter morning will resound with the shouts of “He Is Alive!”

If you like, sign-up for a shift around the fire. Make sure it burns brightly through the night as a testimony to our anticipation. Bring your campers, bring your chairs, or just pull up a log to sit around the fire. Come for half an hour or all night.

And celebrate with us as the sun rises and we use the flame from the Vigil Fire to light our candles and our way to the Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m.!

Choir in Summer Robes

The choir sings at Sunday morning worship. This year’s last regular performance before summer is June 13. Special summer performances are scheduled for the July 11, July 25, and Aug. 15 worship services. Except over the summer, choir practice is 6:30 p.m. Thursday. We also gather at 8 a.m. every Sunday we sing, so if members can’t make Thursday night, there’s still plenty of time to learn the music. We have a dedicated choir room and outstanding music resources in the sanctuary. Child care is always available.

Children

Rehearsals are Sunday at 11 a.m. in the choir room (except July and August).

Bell

Rehearsals are Sunday 11:15-11:45 a.m. in the choir room (except July and August).
