30th Turkey Dinner Soars

The 30th Annual Community Turkey Dinner sponsored by Ramona UMC on Sunday, Nov. 14, was an overwhelming success. There were close to 600 dinners served, and so many helpers that we simply cannot name them all. There were, however, extra helpers that we want to be sure and mention: young adults from the AmeriCorps program helped us serve as well as representatives from the Cub Scouts. Numerous children and grandchildren of church members came to help out. And an added treat this year was the piano music provided by Kevin Cavanaugh, our church accompanist. So, thank you to ALL for your contributions and to the many hands that helped make this a success.

A big “Thank You!” goes out to Albertson’s for their generous donations and, of course, we are very grateful for Ellen Sargent who spent many hours planning in order to make this a success, once again.

Turkey Dinner Time!

Ramona United Methodist Church holds its 30th Annual Community Turkey Dinner, noon – 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, at the Ramona Community Center, 434 Aqua Lane. Tickets are $8 for Adults; $7 for Seniors; $6 for children 10 and under. Tickets for a family of two adults and 4 or more children are $6 per ticket. Tickets are available at the church office, on Sunday mornings after worship, and in front of Albertson’s, Friday, Nov. 5 through Sunday, Nov. 7. Church members are also selling tickets throughout the community.
Last year we served 600 people. All are welcome! Please join us!

Turkey Dinner 2008

After Sunday service, we served our 27th annual turkey dinner from noon to 6 p.m at the Ramona Senior Center, 434 Aqua Lane, and across Ramona. We served 900 meals at the center and sent out 400 meals to people in the community.

More than 600 meals were provided for families who may not have been able to afford Thanksgiving dinner. Our turkey dinner began as a mission project and has grown to be a great community service. Through ticket sales to members, friends and family, we serve complimentary meals to the homeless, families in need, the home-bound, In His Steps, Michael’s House and many others. 100% of the proceeds go to mission support.
